Have you ever entered a contest of any kind? Perhaps you have tried dialing in to your favorite radio station for tickets to a concert or for a chance to win a vacation? Well, I am that person who loves to enter contests of any kind. I see a prize and I don’t give myself a chance to second guess whether I am going to enter and win.

In my twenties the game show The Price is Right was calling my name. The thought of playing the game PLINKO, spinning the Big Wheel, and winning the Showcase Showdown was so alluring. After I heard news that Bob Barker would be retiring from the show, my mom and I hopped on a plane to Los Angeles. We always loved a good adventure and we had high hopes of being the next contestants to “Come on down!”

The next morning we made it into the studio and the anticipation was high. However, contestant after contestant was called and neither my mom nor myself were chosen. It came down to the last commercial break for contestants to be picked and we were feeling so discouraged. As we went on air for the last contestant to be called Bob Barker looked at the camera and said, “Rich, for whom are we looking?” Rich replied with the slowest and most drawn out response I had ever heard, “Well, Bob, we’re looking for HEATHERRRR BROWN (my maiden name)!”

I could hardly believe I was the next contestant on The Price is Right! That experience was one of the most thrilling events in my life so far, but what excites me even more is the fact that the God of Israel calls my name! Isaiah 45:3 (NASB) says, “I will give you the treasures of darkness And hidden wealth of secret places, So that you may know that it is I, The Lord, the God of Israel, who calls you by your name.” Can you believe that? It is true! When we have a relationship with the most loving Father, we can hear Him call our name. How marvelous.

John 3:17 explains, “For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through Him.” Will you accept the invitation of being chosen as a co-heir with Christ and live eternally in the unshakable kingdom of His Father? I pray that you do! What a day it will be when we all come down those streets of gold.
